WHAT IS IT YOU BELIEVE?

Simply put, God made us to be in a relationship with him and each other. When we rebelled against him, we broke the bond and sin and death were introduced into Creation and our lives. But because he loves us, he built a bridge across the chasm, a bridge called the Cross. When Jesus died on the cross, he died for our sins. The Bible tells us that on the cross, Jesus Christ was pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. By his wounds we are healed (Isaiah 53:5).

By dying for us, Jesus opened the way to new life. The penalty has been paid, justice has been served. When Jesus was raised from the dead, God proclaimed his victory over sin and death. Now, God calls his people to turn to him in faith. The Bible is very clear that all people have sinned and fallen short (Romans 3:23) and nobody can save themselves (Romans 6:23). But Scripture also says that "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved" (Romans 10:12-13). When we call on him in this way, he forgives us, he restores us and heals us. When we come to Jesus in humility and faith, when we trust him and not ourselves, then we are made new. We're reconciled and set free and life starts in an amazing new way (Colossians 1:21-22).

This biblical truth is at the heart of our faith, and is the truth we live and proclaim here at Church of Our Lord. Our methods of sharing this message change as the culture changes, but the message itself never changes. This is the Good News that we live each day and the Good News we share with others. This Good News defines who we are. We are new people in Jesus Christ. We are filled with the Holy Spirit. We are adopted into the Father's house.

We're not defined by our past, present or future. We're defined by who we are in Christ. We find our true identity when we turn to Christ. We'd love to share this living faith with you and to share our time getting to know you.

If you have questions about your own spritual life, please get in touch online or visit in person. One of our pastors would be happy to talk more about this. If you have questions about Christian faith or want to grow in your faith, we offer small fellowship groups, courses, Bible study or one-on-one opportunities. We welcome your questions and we strive to be a place where you can "belong before you believe."
